Concert Guide

Whether this is your first concert or you’ve been attending for years, this guide can help you feel ready before you arrive.

Planning Your Visit

  • Try to arrive at least 15 minutes before the concert starts, with extra time for parking. Doors usually open an hour before the start of the concert.

  • Free parking is available near the performance venue. We recommend giving yourself extra time to find parking and walk to the venue. Since concert locations can vary, please check your event location before you go.

For more details, visit our Directions & Parking page.

  • Accessibility varies by venue. Please contact our box office before the concert so we can help you plan your visit.

  • Most concerts are about two hours, including a 20-minute intermission. Family Concerts are usually about one hour with no intermission.

  • Wear what feels comfortable. You’ll see all kinds of outfits at our concerts, from dressy clothes to jeans. Dress up, keep it casual, or choose something in between.

  • Sweet treats, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks are usually available before the concert and during intermission. Proceeds support the Symphony. View the menu

  • Yes, children are welcome at Symphony concerts. A ticket is required for children ages 3 and older, and low-cost youth tickets are available for all concerts.

Free fidget toys are also available for children, or anyone else who may find them helpful during the performance.

During the Concert

  • We love hearing the audience respond to the music. The usual custom is to clap when a full piece is over, but don’t worry if you’re not sure. Some pieces have quiet pauses between sections, so it’s okay to wait and clap when others do.

  • Please silence your phone before the concert begins. Unless otherwise noted, we ask that you not text, take photos, or make video or audio recordings in the concert hall.

  • If you arrive late, a volunteer or staff member will help you find your seat at a good break in the music.

If you need to leave before the concert ends, please wait until the end of a piece when possible so other audience members can keep enjoying the performance.
